Nepal International Trade Fair to kick off in capital tomorrow

Kathmandu, March 6

The seventh edition of Nepal International Trade Fair (NITF) 2018 is set to kick off in the capital from Thursday.

Aimed at promoting domestic products, the five-day event that is scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, is being organised by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).

Issuing a press statement today, FNCCI said that preparations have been completed to hold the event in a bigger and more successful manner.

This year, the event will be organised based on the theme of ‘showcasing Nepal and the globe’ and both Nepali and foreign goods and services will be displayed through more than 300 stalls during the event, according to FNCCI.

Along with Nepal, traders from different nations, including Bangladesh, China, India and Pakistan, are participating in the event. FNCCI officials said that the event will primarily promote Nepali handicraft products and items with export potential that have been incorporated in the Nepal Trade Integration Strategy (NTIS) 2016.

Bhawani Rana, president of FNCCI, expressed belief that NITF 2018 will be an important event to strengthen Nepal’s trade relationship with various countries and foreign traders.

“Business meetings with foreign delegates and discussions on investment opportunities in Nepal will be held on the sidelines of the main event,” informed Rana, adding that NITF intends to attract foreign investment and technology into the country.
