Nepal Stock market crashes, all operations halted
KATHMANDU: As Nepse Index witnessed a continuous fall, the Nepal Stock Exchange halted its operation for the day on Monday.
The benchmark index, which opened at 1764.74, plunged by 5.0 per cent to rest at 1677.04 at 1:30, compelling Nepse to clamp the circuit breaker this afternoon.
Around 1.162 million shares of 130 companies were traded with a total turnover of Rs 879.38 million today.
The country’s only secondary market was southbound since last week.
Nepse clamps first circuit breaker when the index rises or falls by three per cent. The trading is then suspended for 15 minutes.
Nepse clamps second circuit breaker when the index rises or falls by four per cent. The trading is then suspended for 30 minutes.
Nepse clamps third circuit breaker when the index rises or falls by three per cent. The trading is then halted for the day.
