Nepal Telecom's net profit increased 47.58 percent to Rs 8.86 billion in the last fiscal year, according to the company's unaudited financial results for 2025/26.
The state-owned telecom operator posted a net profit of Rs 8.86 billion in the fourth quarter of FY 2025/26, up from Rs 6 billion in the same period a year earlier. Its pre-tax profit also rose 34.66 percent to Rs 13.26 billion from Rs 9.85 billion.
The company's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 10.73 percent to Rs 20.48 billion from Rs 18.50 billion.
Nepal Telecom's operating income rose 3.12 percent to Rs 34.95 billion, compared with Rs 33.89 billion a year earlier. Total income increased 2.65 percent to Rs 39.20 billion from Rs 38.19 billion.
The company reported annualised earnings per share of Rs 49.25.
Despite a decline in interest income, higher revenue from core telecom services, particularly GSM services, supported the improvement in operating income and profitability. GSM revenue increased by Rs 645.4 million, or 2.28 percent, year-on-year.
Interest income, however, fell by Rs 861.9 million, or 22.88 percent, amid declining interest rates.
Nepal Telecom said it continues to expand networks and improve service quality in remote and commercially less viable areas as part of its responsibility to provide nationwide telecommunications access. Such expansion, it said, entails higher operating costs and relatively lower returns.
The company said improving service quality, expanding new technologies and increasing telecom access in remote areas will remain priorities. Amid intensifying competition, retaining its existing customer base and increasing the use of data and digital services will remain key challenges and opportunities.
