KATHMANDU, JULY 17

After a significant surge of 3.13% on Tuesday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) continued its momentum on Wednesday, rising by 54.04 points or 2.33%. The NEPSE index closed at 2,364.63 points at the end of the trading day.

The daily turnover also saw a substantial increase, reaching Rs 12 billion from the exchange of 32,095,937 units of shares of 306 companies in 149,681 transactions. This marks a significant jump from Tuesday's intraday turnover of Rs 9.1 billion.

The sensitive index, which evaluates class 'A' stocks, and the float index, which assesses actively traded shares, also rose by 2.50% and 2.39%, respectively.

Various sectors in NEPSE continued to perform well, with all sectors showing gains today. The hotels and tourism sector led the pack with a 5.55% gain, followed closely by the finance sector with a 5.50% increase. The development bank sector recorded a 4.09% gain, while the non-life insurance sector gained 3.34% and the manufacturing and processing sector gained 3.02%.

Yesterday's leader, the hydropower sector, saw a decrease in investor interest today, recording a modest gain of 1.71%.

In terms of individual stocks, 204 companies advanced, 32 declined, and six remained unchanged. Among the top gainers, Central Finance Co. Ltd (CFCL) recorded a 10% increase in its share value.
