KATHMANDU, MAY 9

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) saw a modest increase of 5.63 points or 0.28% on Thursday, closing at 1,966.23 points by the end of the trading day.

Alongside the benchmark index, the sensitive index, evaluating 'A' class stocks, rose by 0.34%, while the float index, measuring actively traded shares, also climbed by 0.30%.

The Hotel and Tourism sector experienced a significant surge of 6.96%, becoming the only sector to cross 1% gain. However, not all sectors experienced gains, with Microfinance, Life Insurance, and Manufacturing and Processing sectors recording losses of 0.90%, 0.44%, and 0.12% respectively.

The market witnessed a daily turnover of Rs 3.1 billion, with the exchange of 7,058,399 units of shares from 313 companies in 49,332 transactions.
