KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 24
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell by 19.42 points or 0.95 percent to reach 2,010.35 today.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of class 'A' stocks, also declined by 0.79 percent or 3.10 points to 385.62 points. Similarly, the float index that gauges the performance of shares actually traded also fell by 0.83 percent to 139.62 points.
The benchmark index had opened at 2,029.42 points on Sunday, had risen to 2,036.81 before starting to fluctuate and dropping to the lowest point at 2,004.48.
Altogether, 9,003,941 shares of 285 scripts were traded during the day through 81,010 transactions, which amounted to over Rs 2.326 billion. The total market capitalization for the day was Rs 3.044 trillion.
Three companies, Swarojgar Laghu Bitta Bikas Limited, Himalayan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, and Asian Hydropower Limited, were the top gainers today with a full 10 percent gain, while Three Star Hydropower Limited gained 9.73 percent. Meanwhile, Suvam Power Limited was the top loser of the day with a 10 percent or -105 point loss. Meanwhile, Machhapuchhre Bank Limited had the highest turnover today.
The Microfinance index was the only subgroup that was in the green with a 0.99 percent or 36.36 point gain, reaching 3,700.80, while all the other subgroups were in the red, with the finance index losing the most at 1.98 percent or 35.62 points, reaching 1,762.32, followed by the hydropower index and trading index, each with a 1.81 percent decline.
