KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 2

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) saw a strong start to the week on Sunday, with the index climbing 30.75 points, or 1.18%, to close at 2,631.14 points.

Alongside the benchmark index, the sensitive index, which tracks Class 'A' stocks, rose by 0.97%, while the float index, measuring actively traded shares, gained 1.23%.

Sectoral performance was broadly positive, with almost all sectors closing in the green. The finance sector led the gainers with a robust 5.17% increase, followed by the life insurance sector at 4.35%. The trading sector, however, recorded a 1.10% decline, and no other sector posted gains above 2%.

The market recorded a daily turnover of Rs 9.2 billion, generated from the exchange of 29,738,139 units of shares of 319 companies across 68,112 transactions.

In terms of individual stock movement, 205 scrips advanced, 42 declined, and 3 remained unchanged.

Notably, five companies - Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SLBSL), Gurkhas Finance Ltd. (GUFL), Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Ltd. (PMHPL), People's Power Limited (PPL), and Terhathum Power Company Limited (TPC) - hit the upper circuit limit of 10%.
