KATHMANDU, JULY 20

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index concluded at 2,163.92 points today, experiencing a marginal loss of 1.31 points from the previous day's closing. This decline represents a minimal decrease of 0.06% on the index, following an increase of 11.17 points yesterday.

A total of 264 scrips were traded through 54,954 transactions. The Float index saw a reduction of 0.13% and settled at 150.04, while the Sensitive index displayed a slight gain of 0.01%, reaching 410.52. The overall market capitalization stood at Rs. 3.17 Trillion, with the float market capitalization at Rs. 1.12 Trillion.

During the trading session, SHIVAM CEMENTS LTD (SHIVM) had the highest turnover, amounting to Rs. 14.23 crores, and closed with a market price of Rs. 635 per share. Notably, the shares of KBL were the most traded.

Two scrips surged by 10% each, triggering the positive circuit breaker, while two mutual funds faced the maximum possible loss for the day.

Among the various sectors, five recorded gains, while the rest closed in the red. The "Mutual Funds" sector experienced the highest loss of 1.21%, while the "Trading" sector achieved the highest gain of 6.35%.

Technical Analysis Highlight:

The NEPSE index opened at 2,165.7 and reached an intraday high of 2,177.76. On the other hand, it dipped to a low of 2,153.16 before eventually settling at 2,163.92. This indicates that the market tested the resistance zone at 2,177.76 but failed to close above it for the time being. The movement of the index beyond this zone will depend on upcoming market sessions.

Furthermore, the total turnover during the trading period amounted to Rs. 3.05 Arba, with a total of 8,424,108 shares being exchanged. This turnover amount was slightly lower than the turnover of Rs. 3.34 Arba recorded the previous day.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) currently stands at 66.41, showing a slight decrease from yesterday's reading of 66.73. However, the MACD line has crossed higher from the zero line, with the MACD reading at 36.97, indicating an optimistic signal. The previous day's MACD reading was at 35.40.
