KATHMANDU, APRIL 1
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a dip today, shedding 6.26 points or 0.31% to settle at 2,012.07 points by the close of trading.
Alongside this decline, both the sensitive index, which tracks the performance of class 'A' stocks, and the float index, which measures actively traded shares, also saw a downturn of 0.25%.
The market largely bore a negative sentiment, with only two sectors managing to record gains: the Hotels and Tourism sector and the trading sector, which saw increases of 1.16% and 0.20%, respectively.
Contrarily, all other sectors grappled with losses, none surpassing the 1% mark.
Despite the market's overall downturn, Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (GLBSL) and Mai Khola Hydropower Limited (MKHL) bucked the trend, each recording a remarkable 10% gain in their share values.
However, Sarbottam Cement Limited (SARBTM) continued its descent, witnessing a significant drop of 33.50 points or 3.44% to settle at 941 points. Despite this, SARBTM led in terms of turnover (Rs 472,917,632.50), transactions (12,940), and volume (514,411).
Today's turnover saw a decrease, totaling just Rs 2.8 billion from the exchange of 7,290,200 units of shares across 315 companies in 63,015 transactions. This marks a decline from the intraday turnover of Rs 3.2 billion recorded on Sunday.
The total market capitalization currently stands at Rs 3.190 trillion.
