KATHMANDU, JANUARY 26
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined marginally on Monday, shedding 3.07 points or 0.11 percent to close at 2,769.09 points, a day after gaining around 58 points.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of Class 'A' stocks, also fell by 0.34 points. Similarly, the float index, which tracks actively traded shares, declined by 0.11 percent.
Sector-wise, most indices closed in the red, with only four sectors recording gains. The hotels and tourism sector led the gainers with a rise of 1.67 percent, followed by mutual funds (0.78 percent), manufacturing and processing (0.40 percent), and hydropower (0.30 percent).
None of the losing sectors recorded a decline of more than one percent.
Despite the dip in the benchmark index, market activity improved, with daily turnover rising to Rs 16.35 billion from Rs 13.78 billion on Sunday. A total of 36,264,873 shares of 332 companies were traded through 147,676 transactions.
In individual stock performance, 88 scrips advanced, 165 declined, and seven remained unchanged.
Shares of SY Panel Nepal Limited, Sanvi Energy Limited, Him Star Urja Company Limited, Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd, and Mountain Hydro Nepal Limited hit the upper circuit breaker during the session.
