New insecticide plant in the country soon
KATHMANDU: Godrej Sara Lee (GSLL), a
joint venture of India’s Godrej Group and the US’ Sara Lee Corporation, is setting up a plant in Nepal to meet the growing demand for insecticides.
Known for its household
mosquito repellent Good
Knight, GSLL is planning to invest Rs 1 crore to set up the plant, according to the company’s deputy chief for international operations, Mohan Sapre.
The plant would generate about 45 per cent of GSLL’s products, Sapre said at the Good Knight Dealers’ Meet here
yesterday. GSLL products are
currently marketed in more
than 50 countries. It has manufacturing plants in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka as well.
Indian investors have been showing interest in doing
business in Nepal despite the volatile political situation. Ranbaxy is reported to be keen on opening a manufacturing unit. The Anil Ambani promoted Reliance Communications is said to be seeking to invest in the telecom sector. Another Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) company, Big Cinemas, entered Nepal last month. Dabur and ITC have their factories in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the company and Kanak New Traders jointly
organised Good Knight
Dealers’ Meet-2010 with a grand ceremony on Monday here at Soaltee Crowne Plaza.
“With this meet, we aim
to promote our products, review business, reward dealers who have performed extremely well during the year 2065-66 BS and strategize for the year ahead,” said Anil Kedia, chairman of Kanak New Traders.
Discussions were held on
various products of Godrej
