New NRA CEO Bhusal assumes office

Kathmandu, October 24

Newly-appointed Chief Executive Officer of National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Yubraj Bhusal has assumed office from today.

Bhusal was appointed as NRA CEO by the Cabinet meeting on Monday after the resignation of Govinda Raj Pokharel. After assuming office, Bhusal said NRA will expedite post-earthquake reconstruction works and most of the quake-affected households will have their homes before the wet season begins.

“I will give due priority to the reconstruction of individual houses,” said Bhusal. “The NRA will bring a substantial plan to expedite the reconstruction works of ravaged structures on the Earthquake Safety Day.”

The government marks Magh 2 (January 16) as Earthquake Safety Day.

Citing that there are three phases in each institution to achieve results, Bhusal said the first is institutional set up, the second is planning and policies and the third is delivery and the NRA is now in third phase.

Bhusal has previously worked in the capacity of secretary of the Nepal government and he retired as finance secretary some three years back.
