NPC chief seeks to allay NCC’s fears

KATHMANDU: The goverment will expand the tax net instead of increasing tax rate, said newly appointed vice-chairman of National Planning Commission (NPC) Dr Yubraj Khatiwada.

In an meet between Khatiwada and a delegation of Nepal Chamber and Commerce (NCC), led by Surendra Bir Malakar, Khatiwada assured that the government has been doing homework in order to make the revenue and financial policies enterpreneur-friendly. He added that the private sector is in the priority list of the government.

“The Commission is committed to regulate the capital of the NRNs so as to increase the buying capacity and the internal demands of the people,” said Khatiwada. During the meet, Malakar said that the existing political transitional phase — that has resulted in the strikes, chakkajams — has to be ended. He added that

commercialization of the agriculture sector and development of infrastructure for tourism development were urgently required to develop the rural economy.
