Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) will put a new Rs 50 denomination banknote into circulation from September 18, retaining the existing size and colour of the denomination.

The new note, bearing series number B.S. 2083 on the front and 2025 A.D. on the reverse, carries the signature of Governor Prof Dr Biswanath Poudel.

On the front, the note features Mount Everest on the left, a rhododendron watermark on the right, and a "50" watermark. It also carries NRB's payment promise that the bearer will receive Rs 50 on demand. A 1.2-mm-wide embedded security thread inscribed with "NRB" becomes fully visible against light.

The reverse side depicts a snow leopard in the centre, with "NEPAL RASTRA BANK" above it and the denomination written as "RUPEES FIFTY" alongside serial details.

According to NRB, the new notes will bear serial numbers ranging from ट/२४ ०००००१ to ण/७० ९९९९९९. The bank clarified that although it had previously announced circulation of Rs 50 notes of the 2019 series, only notes up to ट/२३ ९००००० were actually issued.
