NT, NTA ink pact to deliver high-speed internet in earthquake-hit districts

Kathmandu, May 4

Nepal Telecom (NT) and Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) have signed an agreement to deliver high-speed internet service in Kavre, Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot and Rasuwa — the four earthquake-affected districts.

An agreement to this effect was signed between Managing Director of NT, Kamini Rajbhandari, and Chairman of NTA, Digambar Jha.

As per the agreement, NTA will grant necessary budget to NT to deliver high-speed internet from the Rural Telecommunication Development Fund (RTDF).

Under this project, NT will have to deliver high-speed internet facility to all educational institutions, health centres, ward offices, rural municipalities and municipalities of these earthquake-affected districts.

“Supporting NT to deliver internet facilities in the quake-affected districts is part of NTA’s objective to make maximum use of RTDF in expanding telecommunication facilities across the country, basically in rural parts,” NTA Chairman Jha said.

On the occasion, Managing Director of NT Rajbhandari said that NT is committed to complete all the projects that are handed over to NT by NTA on time.
