Number of small industries goes up in Jhapa

JHAPA: A total of 741 small industries have been registered in Jhapa district in the current fiscal year, showing the increasing trend of establishing small factories.

Altogether 481 small factories were registered in the district in the last fiscal year, according to Industry Officer Chandra Prasad Mishra.

Mishra said that the number of small factories registered till mid-June includes 237 of productive sector, 305 of agriculture and forestry, 190 of service sector while four of tourism and five of construction sector.

Mishra said that Rs 5 million plus revenue was collected from the registration fees of the small industries. Similarly, Rs 15 million in revenue was collected after registering other commercial entities.

Chief of the District Small and Cottage Industry Office, Gopi Prasad Ghimire, said that returnee migrant workers have started running their own business by registering the firms.

He said that the returnee migrant workers have been attracted towards agriculture and forestry sectors.
