Interaction on organic food production, trade

KATHMANDU: An interaction programme was held between the stakeholders to discuss the importance of production and trade of organic food items essential for human health.

The first-of-its-kind programme, the Organic Value Chain Round Table Meeting, was organised by the Project for Agriculture Commercialisation and Trade (PACT) in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

In the meeting, the participants discussed how to produce organic quality food products, uplift the status of farmers and develop necessary plans and policies to make the agricultural sector competitive.

The proposed plans and policies were presented by Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Agricultural Development Lekhanath Acharya.

The World Bank Task Team Leader Patrick Verissimo had also addressed the interaction.

The meeting was financially aided by the World Bank.
