PACT signs 45 grant pacts in eastern Nepal

KATHMANDU: The Project for Agriculture Commercialisation and Trade (PACT) on Thursday signed grant agreements with as many as 45 agricultural entrepreneurs of the Eastern Development Region.

A total of Rs 490 million would now be invested for the agricultural commercialisation including Rs 310 million from the donor organisations, informed PACT Director Govinda Prasad Sharma in a programme organised in Biratnagar today.

Furthermore, Sharma said that Rs 187.5 million would be provided to organisations in six districts including Udayapur, Khotang, Siraha, Saptari, Jhapa and Sunsari.

The funds would be provided to farmers, agricultural workers and stakeholders for meat and meat-related products, dairy products, fish and vegetables.

Meanwhile, Sharma suggested creating an environment to complete the sub-projects on time.

The 45 organisations were picked out from 295 applicants from the region.
