Pokhara promoted in Indian towns

Kathmandu, April 3

The Western Regional Hotel Association, Pokhara, recently organised a promotional programme titled ‘Chaliye Pokhara’ in four Indian cities — Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi and Sonauli — to lure more tourists from these parts of the southern neighbour.

The programme was organised with support from Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

With the summer season soon approaching and temperatures in this part of India soaring higher each day, promotion of the Lake City could be an ideal retreat for the outbound travelling population there, said NTB.

The 27-member delegation from Nepal also comprised tourism entrepreneurs from Siddharthanagar. The five-day promotional tour, which started in Kanpur on March 27, was a confidence building mission and the delegation was greeted with an enthusiastic and positive response from the locals there.

The Lucknow leg of programme, organised on March 28, was participated by three ministers from Uttar Pradesh and they expressed solidarity and strong support for cross-border tourism and commitment towards expanding its scope.

Each leg combined a business-to-business (B2B) session and media briefing and special incentives and packages were also proposed during the programme.
