Nepal Earthquake: Reconstruction Update

The latest update on the housing grant in the 14 earthquake affected districts shows 77.13 per cent of the total 626,036 eligible beneficiaries has received the first instalment as of Thursday, January 19. As per Central Level Project Implementation Unit (CLPIU), under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD), 86.45 per cent or 459,887 beneficiary households in the 11 worst-hit districts outside Kathmandu Valley, which had been categorised as 'Cluster 1', have received the first instalment.

The distribution of the first trance in the three districts within the Valley, categorised as 'Cluster 2', where the survey and distribution process kicked off much later, stood at 24.42 per cent or 22,969.

Nuwakot was the only district where the second instalment has been given to six households.

Altogether 204,177 complaints have been lodged in the 14 districts — 180,639 in Cluster 1 and 23,538 in Cluster 2 — saying they have been left out of the beneficiary list.
