Production of coffee rises in Baglung

Baglung, May 24:

Coffee production in Baglung district saw a five-fold rise this year in comparison to the last year’s production.

According to the district agriculture development office, the significant rise in coffee production was recorded after farmers started growing coffee by forming groups. This

year, a total of 20 tonnes

of coffee was produced in the district, while last year’s production was merely 4 tonnes.

District Coffee Growers’ Association said over 600 farmers in 37 VDCs are involved in coffee farming in the district and 20 pulper machines have been installed at various places for the processing of the coffee produced in the district.

Various government and non-government organizations have been extending technical and other assistance to the farmers in growing coffee.
