Pvt vehicles to get fuel on Tuesday
Kathmandu, October 10
Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) will distribute fuel to private vehicles on Tuesday for one day through more than 100 fuel pumps in Kathmandu Valley to ease the mobility of people during Dashain festival.
Each four-wheeler and two-wheeler will get 15 litres and five litres of fuel, respectively, according to Deepak Baral, spokesperson for NOC. “The list of the fuel pumps will be published on NOC’s official website a day before — on Monday.”
Private vehicles will get a chance to purchase fuel on Tuesday for the first time after nearly two weeks. As its stock started dwindling after the continuous obstruction in the movement of fuel tankers from India to Nepal, NOC has barred private vehicles from purchasing fuel since October 1.
NOC will distribute 10 litres of fuel to taxis every week from tomorrow based on the odd/even licence plate system. Long route bigger public vehicles will also get fuel based on the recommendation letter of Federation
of National Transporters Entrepreneurs from tomorrow, according to NOC.
“The rule is not effective for free shuttle service to the airport (operated by airlines), airport taxis, and emergency service vehicles. They will receive fuel on priority basis.”
