Shah elected to the helm of NBA
Kathmandu, November 16
The 30th annual general meeting of Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) — the umbrella organisation of commercial banks in the country — held here today has elected Anil Keshary Shah, the CEO of Mega Bank, as its president.
Similarly, Gyanendra Dhungana, CEO of Nepal Bangladesh Bank, has been elected to the post of NBA vice-president.
After the tenure of former NBA president Upendra Poudyal aAnd former vice-president Shah ended, the two posts had become vacant.
While the association has a provision of appointing two vice-presidents, the term of another NBA Vice-president Kishore Maharjan, who is also the CEO of Civil Bank, has not expired yet.
As per the NBA statute, Outgoing President Poudyal, who is also the CEO of NMB Bank, will continue to serve as a member of the executive committee.
Similarly, the AGM has elected Rajan Singh Bhandari, who had served in the executive committee as the former outgoing president, as NBA adviser. Bhandari is the CEO of Citizens Bank International.
The other members of the new executive committee of NBA include Jyoti Prakash Pandey, CEO of Nepal Investment Bank; Bhuvan Kumar Dahal, CEO of Sanima Bank; Ashok Sherchan, CEO of Prabhu Bank; Lila Prakash Sitaula, CEO of Agricultural Development Bank; and Sudesh Khaling, CEO of Laxmi Bank, as members.
CEO of Himalayan Bank, Ashoke Shumsher JB Rana and CEO of Nabil Bank, Sashin Joshi, will serve in the capacity of advisers of NBA’s executive committee.
