Spice Nepal Pvt Ltd (SNPL) — Nepal’s sole private cellular mobile phone operator — has been awarded with two international awards in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

“SNPL bagged ‘Mobile Operator with Best Consumer Pull’ in Nepal and ‘Most Innovative Mobile Operator’, at the CEO Conclave-2006, organised by Voice & Data, India’s leading information and communication magazine, on November 17-19 in Colombo,” said Ajay Sumargi, director at the SNPL.

He said that the awards are for the recognition for the services rendered by SNPL with more innovation and dedication.

According to him, “the winners were chosen among the best mobile phone operators in the South Asian (SAARC) region for their contribution in cellular mobile phone development, innovation, products and services.”

“Of these two awards — the ‘Mobile Operator with Best Consumer Pull’ holds a special significance for SNPL’s continuation and dedication in providing services during difficult period of time,” Sumargi added.

“These international accolades have given both the encouragement and added challenges for SNPL and meeting its commitment to provide best services at best prices,” he said, adding that the company would aggressively focus on its expansion plan.

SPNL has been providing cellular mobile phone service under a brand name — Mero Mobile — for over one year and has already covered the areas from Mechi in east to Bhairahawa in the west. There are about 300,000 Mero Mobile subscribers at present.
