Tailoring gives women power

Biratnagar, March 27:

Women in Biratnagar have been lured to tailoring profession for the past few years. “Many people insulted me for running a tailoring centre, as it is supposed to be a profession of the lower caste. But as my labour turned me into a successful woman, they have begun to eulogise me,” said Sushila Ghimire, who is running a tailoring centre at Pushpalal chowk in Biratnagar for the past one decade.

The tailoring profession is regarded as a profession of the Damai community (so-called lower caste in our society) so women from other communities who get into this profession have to face problems in our society, said entrepreneurs.
