Tata-Fiat dealer network launched

Mumbai, March 6:

Tata Motors and Fiat India tosdayunveiled a new dealer network to sell both Tata and Fiat branded cars along with service and sales of spare parts in 11 cities across India.

The Tata-Fiat dealer network comprises 25 existing Tata Motors’ passenger vehicles dealers and three existing Fiat India dealers, said a company statement. The 28 Tata-Fiat dealers will sell Fiat’s Palio and Adventure vehicles along with Tata Motors’ passenger vehicles Indica, Indigo, Indigo Marina, Sumo and Safari, added the statement.

The Tata-Fiat dealers, who together have 44 outlets, are located in 11 cities — Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi and Kolkata. The execution of the distribution arrangement is the first initiative after the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Fiat Group and Tata Motors in September 2005.

Tata is India’s largest private conglomerate with interests from steel to automobiles. Officials say discussions were on to explore other areas of cooperation, on which specific announcements could be expected once their feasibility was established.
