THT’s Bajura correspondent bags PAF journo award
Four journalists, including The Himalayan Times correspondent Prakash Singh, have been announced as the winners of the Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) Journo Award 2017.
Singh is the Bajura correspondent for THT and has been awarded for his outstanding reporting on poverty alleviation issues.
While Singh is the winner for this year under national English daily, Mahesh Kumar Das from Nagarik Dainik is the winner under national Nepali newspaper. Similarly, Laxmi Basnet of Community Information Network is the winner under electronic media category and Tika Subedi from Janatapatra Weekly of Sindhupalchok has bagged the award under outskirts media category.
PAF has been distributing this award since last five years on International Day for Eradication of Poverty, which is marked every year on October 17. All the winners will be honoured with Rs 40,000 cash prize and certificates.
PAF has been collaborating with Society of Economic Journalists Nepal (SEJON) for award selection, and an independent jury was formed for the same comprising Senior Economist Pushkar Bajracharya, Prateek Pradhan, founding president of SEJON and Programme Division Chief of PAF Shree Ram Subedi.
