Transsion Holdings launch three new brands in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Transsion Holdings, a global telecommunication company with a sales network in 58 countries, entered the Nepali phone market on September 6 with the launch of two mobile phone brands — TECNO Mobile and itel, and an accessories brand Oraimo. The company launched four smartphones under TECNO – i7, CX Air, WX3, and WX4 — and two smartphones under itel — A11 and it1508+. It has also launched five feature phones – it2130, it5603, it5020, it5613 and it5250. In addition, the company will provide smart accessories for smartphones under Oraimo.

Mahalaxmi Mobiles, the authorised distributors for all three brands are optimistic about the new launches in the burgeoning domestic market. Santosh Bhandari, General Manager at Mahalaxmi Mobiles said, “There are more than 42 mobile phone brands operating in Nepal and we are certain that the brands from Transsion Holdings will catch up with the others because of their excellent quality and reliable service.” Furthermore, he added that the smartphones are packed with features such as a powerful battery, high- pixel cameras and an excellent touchscreen.

The newly launched brands come with a hundred day replacement guarantee besides the regular 12-month warranty provided by TECNO Mobile and itel. As a result, customers will have the opportunity to replace the phone within one hundred days if they face any technical problems relating to the hardware or software. Oraimo’s accessories also come with a 12-month warranty. For the initial phase the company has set up 14 service centres in the country but later plan to add 24 more.

Transsion Holdings is a leading company in the mobile industry, with a market share of over 40 per cent in countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Speaking to THT Hi-Tech Plus, Marco Ma, Managing Director of Transsion Holdings, Nepal said, “Nepal is our 59th destination and we are planning to cater to the emerging market of this country through our high-functioning smartphones and feature phones. We want to provide a wide range of services to the Nepali consumers. That’s why we have launched three different brands in the market. “

While the prices vary from brand to brand, itel phones will cost between Rs 1,000 and Rs 12,000 and will mainly consist of feature phones and bar phones. The prices of TECNO Mobile smartphones will range from Rs 8,000 to Rs 60,000.
