KATHMANDU, JUNE 19
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has instructed the helicopter operators to compulsorily assign two pilots in VIP helicopter flights.
Following a board meeting of the aviation authority, the CAAN has issued a six-point directive today in a bid to further strengthen and manage flight safety.
According to the statement issued by CAAN, the helicopter operators must implement the new automated software application. They should make arrangements to ensure information related to weather conditions, flight duration, pilots' experience and geographical conditions can be accessed through the application.
Moreover, helicopter companies are required to generate local human resources as approved by the CAAN earlier to ensure self-reliance on local pilots within the next three years.
Meanwhile, CAAN has also instructed all airline operators to make their last flight to the designated base airport for overnight rest and conduct their first flight for the next day from the same airport starting from June 27. The rule is also applicable to the helicopter companies, but starting this Tuesday.
