UK economy slows

LONDON: Britain’s economy experienced a slowdown in the third quarter of 2015, hit by shrinking construction and manufacturing activity, official data showed on Tuesday.

Gross domestic product (GDP) the combined value of all the goods and services produced in the economy expanded by 0.5 per cent between July and September, the Office for National Statistics said in an initial estimate.

That was slightly worse than market expectations for 0.6 per cent expansion, and followed growth of 0.7 per cent in the second quarter.
