UTS is the largest taxpayer

Kathmandu, January 30:

United Traders Syndicate Pvt Ltd (UTS) has been conferred with the ‘Customs Important Person’ as it had paid the largest amount of customs revenue during the fiscal year 2006-07.

UTS, a subsidiary organisation of Vaidya’s Organisation of Industries and Trading Houses (VOITH), paid customs duty of Rs 149 million during the period. The Ministry of Finance and Department of Customs conferred the award to UTS at a programme held in the valley recently to mark the 56th World Customs day, states a company press release.

Established in 2024 BS, UTS has been paying a significant amount of taxes to the government as well as generating employment opportunities. “It’s a matter of great pride and recognition. We are encouraged to do more in the future,” said Suraj Vaidya, president at VOITH, adding that the company would generate even more revenues for the national coffer, if peace and security as well as political stability and timely policies are brought.
