Warsteiner is here to make a difference: Nosner

Kathmandu, February 28

Raj Brewery, a subsidiary of Jawalakhel Group of Industries (JGI), has started the production of Warsteiner — a premium German beer — in the country.

Though the firm is yet to officially launch the beer, the brewery has already made Warsteiner available in local market.

Raj Brewery was able to start production of the Warsteiner beer in the country itself after recently acquiring production licence certification from Warsteiner International.

Thomas Nosner, technical director of Warsteiner International, who arrived in Nepal recently to sign the licensing certification of the production/brewing of Warsteiner beer with Raj Brewery, said the brand has forayed into Nepal market to make a difference in the country’s beer industry and the culture of drinking the beverage.

“Warsteiner comes with 264 years of success in the brewery industry and is the most famous beer brand in Germany. Warsteiner will certainly prove itself as a competitive beer in the growing beer industry of Nepal,” Nosner said.

According to him, the implementation of ‘purity law’ in the production of Warsteiner beer worldwide as envisioned by the German Purity Law of 1516 is what makes the German beers stand out in the global market.

The German Purity Law has clearly mentioned the use of water, malt, hops and yeasts as the only brewing materials in beer production, while other beers tend to also use raw cereals like rice and barley and other additions like enzymes and preserving agents, flavours, chemical stabilisers, alginates and ascorbic acids.

“Unlike others, Warsteiner observes the entire harvest and conditioning of ingredients used in the Warsteiner beer from the field to our warehouse in Warstein,” added Nosner.

In a nutshell, Nosner said that the German brew boasts of bright and brilliant appearance, dominating foam-head along with distinctive and well-balanced hops character.

Meanwhile, Nosner also informed that the Nepali firm has been given the production authority of Warsteiner beer following detailed investigation on quality, ingredients and equipment used and proper site analysis.

The Warsteiner beer is priced at Rs 3,200 per carton in the market.
