WB meet starts in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, November 6:

Senior managers from World Bank (WB) started brainstorming on new and emerging issues in Nepal and South Asia here today.

The South Asia Regional Management team of the World Bank meets once a year in one of the South Asian countries.

And this year its Nepal’s turn. “Nepal has been chosen for this year’s meetings to signal the bank’s strong commitment to continue working with Nepal,” said Susan Goldmark, World Bank country director for Nepal. “It is a demonstration of the solidarity with Nepali people and bank’s way of saying that we stand with Nepal as it embarks on an ambitious agenda of nation-building,” she said.

The theme of this year’s meeting is ‘Beyond the Nation State. It has decided to celebrate December 6 as ‘Nepal Day’.
