Weakening national business activities affect book fair
Sixth Nepal Education and Book Fair, began on Friday, could not attract many visitors.
J K Rimal of the Nepal Sahitya Prakashan Kendra said that the business was not good as expected. He had expected more visitors on Saturday. S K Jamuar, sales executive of Orient Longman Ltd, India, said that he was not satisfied with the business.
Most of the stallholders share the same opinion. However, organisers claimed that 5,000 people visited the fair today and hoped that business would rise in the coming days.
The Himalayan White House College organised a seminar on higher education in information technology. It also announced scholarships for 100 students, who will appear for a test on may 20. About 800 students are expected to appear for the test. School Leaving Certificate topper of 2001, Swachchhanda Songmen, spoke on the occasion.
Queen Margaret University College, Scotland explained about the courses they offer.
The fair is being organised by the Global Exposition and Management Services (GEMS) in co-operation with the National Booksellers and Publishers of Nepal (NEPAN).
