World Bank mission in Kathmandu talks with DLS DG

KATHMANDU: The World Bank's 14th Implementation Support Mission, which arrived in Nepal to support the Project for Agriculture Commercialisation and Trade (PACT), started its operation in the Kathmandu Valley on Tuesday.

On the first day, the mission called on Director General at the Department of Livestock Services, Keshav Prasad Premi,

The duo held a discussion on functioning of the Veterinary Standard and Drug Administration Office (VSDAO) under the Department, which has been helping the PACT to ensure quality of meat and dairy products from PACT sub-projects.

The VSDAO has been developing an annual plan to monitor the products including examination on proportion of harmful antibiotic, aflatoxin, in animal feeds.

They also discussed a road map for the same for June-December this year, according to a statement issued by the PACT.

Officials and experts of the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the World Bank, the PACT and the Department were present on the occasion.

The mission would be in Kathmandu for 10 days.

PACT is a WB-funded project run by the government since 2009.
