Yeti Airlines in aid of four NGOs

Kathmandu, April 15:

Yeti Airlines today donated Rs 888,376 (Rs 222,094 each) to four leading social organisations to support their causes of social development.

As part of its commitment and responsibility towards building the society, Yeti Airlines decided to donate four rupees per flight ticket to four social organisations, namely Mati Nepal, Nepal Leprosy Relief Association, Organisation for Community Children and Environment Development and Tewa, said Vijaya Shrestha, executive director, Yeti Airlines.

“We reached an agreement with these organisations on October 1, 2006 and started allocating four rupees on every ticket we sold since then to support them to go a mile further,” he said. He further said that Yeti Airlines and its associated companies would continue their involvement in social welfare activities. According to him, the airlines would provide its contribution as a part of its corporate social responsibility in areas of sports, public awareness generation, health, education, environment and so on. Shrestha announced that Yeti Airlines would give 30 per cent discount on airfare to women passengers on May 24 to mark the first successful ascent of a Nepali woman of the Mt Everest. Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa, chairman of Yeti Airlines, handed over the cheque of Rs 222,094 each to Sabin Gurung, senior programme officer of Maiti Nepal, Laxmi Das Shrestha, chairman of NLRA, Bibhor Lal Shrestha, president of OCCED and Janaki Shah, co-coordinator of Tewa.
