Youths to scale peak

KATHMANDU: Two young Nepali entrepreneurs — Siddhartha Bikram Thapa and

Rohit Karan Baidya — are set to climb the 6,189 metre-high Island Peak, one of the world’s renowned peaks.

Thapa and Baidya are scheduled to start climbing the peak from its base-camp on May 1. Dubbed a tough climb by climbers the world over, the peak has so far been conquered only by experienced mountaineers.

The successful ascent of the peak by two young Nepali entrepreneurs is expected to add a new dimension to the Nepali mountaineering sports sector. The expedition is managed by Himalayan Waves Trekking Pvt Ltd.
