Learn from your mistakes

KATHMANDU: Dr Umakanta Bhattarai is a Consultant at the Manmohan Medical College and Teaching Hospital. He is also associated with Kantipur General and Dental Hospital, Om Samaj and Nilam Hospital. During his career as a medical doctor, Dr Bhattarai has actively arranged and participated in different health camps in various parts of the country including Kathmandu, Ramechhap, Dhading, Jajarkot. He has also worked as guest lecturer of Obstetrics and Gynaecology to MBBS students at Three Gorges University Hubei, China. Dr Bhattarai, who plans to go to the US for further training and hopes to contribute further in his field, gets nostalgic about his college days

I completed MBBS and MD from Institute of Medicine (IOM), Maharajgunj.

I studied Obstetrics as well as Gynaecology.

Being in companionship for several years is the best of my college life and also the preparation during college life to be a professional after completion of college.

LASTING MEMORIES

While doing my MBBS I visited several places like Parsa, Lahan, Makawanpur and India where I got to learn many things and visit new places. These tours were conducted as a part of our studies. And studies was the only thing I was involved in during my student days.

LESSON LEARNT

Being in college, I learnt to be mature, stable and tough while dealing with problems in life.

Be punctual and learn from your mistakes. Participate actively in presentations, seminar, interaction and have cordial relationship with colleagues.
