Nepali students receive Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards

KATHMANDU: Celebrating the academic performance of Nepal’s secondary school learners in Cambridge examination series of June 2015 and November 2015, Cambridge International Examinations has announced the winners of the ‘Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards in Nepal’.

As per the press release issued by British Council, 48 learners from 14 schools were awarded at the event held at Hotel Himalaya, Kupondole on April 21. The winners included five learners who achieved the highest marks in the world in International AS and A Level subject. Students excelled in diverse subjects — English Literature, Mathematics, Biology and Business Studies among others. It was based on outstanding performance in subjects which are not so widely taken here, adds the release.

Ruchira Ghosh, Regional Director, South Asia, Cambridge International Examinations, expressed in the press statement, “We are delighted to see such great performance by our learners in Nepal. Our qualifications are highly regarded by universities and employers internationally and we are confident this achievement will equip our learners for higher education and future endeavours in life out of school.”

“It has been a difficult year for Nepal in so many ways. The young people receiving awards at this event have shown incredible standards of hard work and dedication in order to overcome these challenges, and this has impressed me deeply. I am proud to celebrate this success, and hope that it signals a much happier and fortunate year for this country and its youth,” the release quoted Steve Adams, Director Examinations South Asia, British Council, as saying.
