Panchthar to be declared full literate district after two weeks

PHIDIM: After implementation of the 'Each One Teach One' literacy campaign in Pachthar district, residents of Phidim Municipality and other 37 VDCs have been literate.

According to the latest data collection by the District Education Office (DEO), 14,323 people of age group 15 to 59 are literate in the district.

With the eradication of illiteracy, different resource centres under the DEO have already declared Phidim municipality and 37 VDCs fully literate ones.

According to the District Education Officer, Gyanmani Nepal, the whole district will be declared literate by President Ram Baran Yadav on July 14.

The 'Each One Teach One' campaign had begun from mid of February in the district this year. Under the campaign, one literate person had to educate one illiterate at the latter’s house.

People who were made literate during the campaign share that they now can use mobile phones, read traffic signals and letters by themselves.

Nepal informed that the literate persons enthusiastically volunteered in the campaign. The volunteers will be awarded with a certificate signed by the Prime Minister.
