SLC results: 47.43pc make it through the Iron Gate

KATHMANDU/BHAKTAPUR: Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE) on Friday published the results of the SLC exams, held in March.

A total of 47.43 per cent examinees made it through the Iron Gate of the school-level education.

Before publishing the results, the nine-member board, chaired by the Secretary from the Ministry of Education, had held a meeting at the OCE in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.

  • A total of 405,338 students had appeared in the examinations under the regular category, of which 192,267 have passed the exams.
  • Among the 136,051 students, who sat for the exempted category, 18,778 have passed the tests.
  • 21,247 students have secured distinction while 90,176 have passed in the first division.
  • 76,482 passed in the second division while 4,362 have passed in the third division.
  • The results of the technical stream will be published within a week.

Among 136,051 students, who sat for the exempted category, 18,778 have passed the tests.

The OCE said that 21,247 students have secured distinction while 90,176 have passed in the first division. Likewise, 76,482 passed in the second division while 4,362 have passed in the third division.

The OCE has cancelled the results of 612 students who were termed ineligible for various reasons. Results of 1,199 examinees were withheld while 5,099 students dropped the exams and 83 students were expelled.

Some 3,288 students of technical subjects had also appeared in the exams. Results of the technical stream will be published within a week, the OCE informed.

The exams were conducted from March 19 to 27.

This year, the OCE has introduced grading system with the results of SLC examinees from the technical stream . All the examinees from this stream will get grades as per marks scored in the exams rather than pass/fail tags.

Last year’s SLC results were published on the 77th day of the exam on June 13. However, the results this year were published on the 80th due to the April 25 earthquake.

KATHMANDU: The Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE) on Friday is holding its board meeting to formally publish the results of the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations.

It has been learned that 47.43 percent students have passed the exams, according to our correspondent Kokila KC, who is at the OCE in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.

SLC exams are considered the Iron Gate of school-level education.
