6th Int’l Nepal Tatto Convention kicks off today

KATHMANDU: More than 160 tattoo artists from across the world, their varied forms of arts, needles, skin and lots of inks — Nepal Tattoo Convention is one place to be for all tattoo lovers. To be held from April 1 to 3 at Hotel Yak and Yeti, Durbar Marg, the 6th International Nepal Tattoo Convention beckons you to be with like-minded people while you celebrate the art of tattoo on your body.

“There will be more than hundred stalls in the convention including the stalls of tattoos, tattoo gizmos, guitars, handicrafts et cetera,” shares Bipin Shrestha, the Event Organiser of the Festival about their fest.

While the artists will be busy inking tattoos, people can have a look on various tattoo-related items such as needles, inks, and many more at the Convention. Piercing seminar, body suspension, tattoo competition, along with music and dances of Nepal are other attractions of the three-day tattoo fest.

Besides tattoos and tattoo artists, there will also be static body suspension by Alex and Indigenak Modification Industries from Spain during the event. The thrilling suspension acts is all set to take place on April 2.

“We have high expectations of the festival this year — we are expecting a bigger and better Convention. Last year, the festival was hit by the earthquake and we had to halt the festival on its second day,” expressed Bijay Shrestha, Director of International Nepal Tattoo Convention adding, “None of the artists were hurt. However, the disaster taught us lessons such as preparedness for disasters. This is why we have collected all the necessary information of the artists this year — where they are staying in the Capital, telephone number of various

embassies for emergency communications.”

Apart from tattoos and body modifications, there will also be traditional dances such as Bhairab Kali, Kumari, Mayur, Ghatu among others to entertain the audience while making the festival lively. A live performance by Kanta dAb dAb will be an added musical treat. There will also be food and drink stalls at the venue.

The tickets are priced at Rs 200 (daily pass) and Rs 500 (three-day pass). Tickets are available at Mohan’s Tattoo Inn, Thamel and at the venue. The Convention will take place from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The event by Nepal Tattoo Pvt Ltd is organised by Mohan’s Tattoo Inn and mu’az Entertainment and promoted by Nepal Tourism Board. The Himalayan Times is the official print media partner.
