A brother’s affection

Keshav Thapa, recently visited Nepal to offer his prayers for his younger brother Kapil as he anxiously waits for the results of the grand finale of Indian Idol 4. Kapil was an enthusiast from his childhood days who loved to take part in dance competitions where he always came in first or second, but “We had never imagined that he would be one day be performing in such a big platform and receiving such recognition. We are really happy and proud of him,” said Thapa in a telephone interview with The Himalayan Times.
Talking about his brotherhe said, “as a child he was very shy and never talked much, but he did have a very huge circle of friends. He even had a dance group.”
As for Kapil’s strong points he said, “Most of the singers have received formal training from an early age but my brother never had any such formal training, he just sang all by himself, and that is his specialty.” It was after Kapil joined the battalion that he was trained in singing and improved his skills as a singer.
Thapa admits that the competition is tough and as the days grow near, the anxiety is even greater and said, “I am 90 per cent sure Kapil will win.” Out of the two contenders Sourabhee
and Torsha he feels that Sourabhee is a bigger threat to his brother, with her voice quality and the personality she has. To make sure that Kapil wins he along with friends and family have organised a number of rallies around their hometown requesting people to vote. Family members are busy throughout the day visiting STD’s and voting from hom. “If Kapil does win its going to be a big party back home,” he added.
Sourabhee though a threat rumours are rife about Kapil and Sourabhee having a liking for each other. But the brother clearly dismisses it as just media hype. He is also unwilling to share if Kapil does have a special someone in his life. “He has a lot of friends, but he never discloses issues about girls with me”. Recalling a memorable incident during his recent one-day visit to Nepal he said, “Nisha Basnet, who has a shop near Pashupati, said that Kapil is just like her bhanjo and gave me a statue of Pashupatinath and a rudraksha for him.” Thapa shared that immense support shown by the Nepali audience has been amazing and said,
“Kapil has promised to come to Nepal, whether he wins or loses.”
