Kathmandu:

The top 10 finalists of Samsung Nepali Tara received an overwhelming ovation performing before a huge audience at different places in the valley. The live concert was held in open air at Padma Kanya Campus, Kathmandu, Duttatraya Chowk, Bhaktapur and Trivhuwan Chowk of Banepa on July 24, 25 and 26.

Dharmendra Sewan, Indira Joshi, Pushpa Poudel, Bhavin Dhungana, Srijan Lwagoon, Dipak Limbu, Rupak Dotel, Durga Kharel, Jhuma Niraula and Ramesh Pokhrel sang a medley of tunes and also rendered songs composed by Alok Shree. Even a sudden downpour during the Bhaktapur concert did not deter the spirit of the audience. Said a member of the audience: “These singers will surely outdo some of the so-called singers who’ve established themselves in the industry using underhand methods.”

The audience was seen holding placards displaying the names of their favourite singers. Some could also be seen taking the autographs of their favourite singers.

“It was only yesterday, so to speak, when I’d to beg my idols for autographs when they visited Ilam. This seems like a dream to me now,” said Jhuma Niraula, one of the contestants. The finalists will perform at Basantapur and Bhrikuti Mandap on July 29

and 30.
