Aamir to meet fan with progeria

MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, who is currently preparing for his next film Dangal, is keen to meet a fan who is suffering from progeria — extremely rare genetic disorder wherein symptoms resembling aspects of ageing are manifested at a very early age.

The unnamed fan, who is suffering from this disease, shared a post on Facebook where he mentioned that he wants to meet the PK star and thank him for the movie Taare Zameen Par, which gave him courage.

“I want to meet Aamir Khan and thank him for the movie Taare Zameen Par which gave me courage, but there’s not much progress on that one yet! To be honest, I don’t know much about the illness I have, except that I have the rare power of being young and old at the same time,” the fan had written.

The 50-year-old actor took notice of the post and replied that he would “love” to meet him.

“Hi my friend, you haven’t given your name... I would love to meet you. Please let me know when and where, and I will be there. Love. a. P.S. I am so glad that you liked Taare Zameen Par,” he wrote.

The 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, which was directed by Khan, revolved around a teacher essayed by the Ghulam star and a boy played by Darsheel Safary with learning disabilities who share a special bond. The boy also revealed his harrowing experiences when he was compared to Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s character Auro in the film Paa.

“When I was in the 4th standard and the movie Paa released, my classmates began teasing me and calling me Auro — I felt terrible at that point, so I came home and told my parents. My dad told me to tell them ‘to chill’ and that ‘I’m special’. I don’t blame those who don’t understand me, they like me are children after all,” he wrote.
