‘My Wife’s Murder’ is not a whodunit: Varma

New Delhi: Prolific filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma says his upcoming production ‘My Wife’s Murder’ is more an emotional family drama than a murder mystery. Varma, who was in the capital along with director Jijy Philip and lead actor Anil Kapoor to promote the film, says it showcases the mind of a husband who accidentally ends up as a murderer. “While in murder mysteries, the crime is a premeditated one, in this movie the murder is an accident. The film tries to portray the mind of an accidental murderer and never plays hide and seek with the audience,” Varma told HNS here. “The movie was in my mind even before I made my directorial debut in ‘Shiva’. Its script is original and not a remake of any movie - Indian or foreign. “The characters are very much identifiable and public will connect to them because of their intense emotions. It’s a story that every family can easily recognise as a part of their society,” said the maker of such hits as ‘Rangeela’ and ‘Company.’ Suchitra Krishnamoorthy of “Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na” fame plays the lead opposite Anil Kapoor in the movie.
