Ananda Karki’s new album ‘ananda’ was released at a ceremony at Hotel Raddison on September 11. Primarily admired as a ghazal singer, Karki’s new album offers a variety of nine songs written by established lyricists of the country.

Sachin Singh has composed all the songs in the album and Fanendra Rai has arranged them creatively. Some of the songs in the album are also recorded in Mumbai.

The album has tried to address the desires of all generations by incorporating all types of songs, contemporary as well as pop. DJ Raju has done a remix in one of the songs that is sure to attract the younger music enthusiasts. Prominent Indian vocalist Sadhana Sargam has lent her voice alongwith Karki in one of the songs.

An audiovisual presentation was made at the programme giving a brief introduction of Karki as a musician, his new album ‘ananda’ and the comments of all nine lyricists on the production of the album.

Lyricist Kali Prasad Rijal said, “Moving away from his old style of ghazal singing, Karki has integrated the melody of modern songs and has sung in pop style for a change.”All the lyricists commended him as a singer who could bring out the true feelings of the words through his rendition of the songs.

Karki had started his singing career with the recording of “Jibanma dherai khola tarnu chha (“There are many rivers to swim across in life”) “ at Radio Nepal. He has published nine albums of his own in his more than 20 years of singing career. He has given his melodious voice in a number of contemporary, folk and film songs.

He considers his listeners as his sources of inspiration to perform even better. A result of an effort of one and a half year, the album is produced and marketed by Reeyaz Music and is already available in the market for audiences’ response.
