Alice Eve for captain America role?
LOS ANGELES: Alice Eve and Hayley Atwell are reportedly both being considered to play Peggy Carter in 'The First Avenger: Captain America'.
Alice Eve is reportedly set to star in 'The First Avenger: Captain America'.
The 'Sex and the City 2' actress is favourite to land the role of Peggy Carter, the love interest of the titular superhero - who will be played by Chris Evans - though fellow British beauty Hayley Atwell is also being considered for the part.
E! Online columnist Marc Malkin reports: "A well-placed source tells me that British actress Alice Eve, 28, is the front-runner to play Peggy Carter in the much chattered about upcoming superhero movie 'The First Avenger: Captain America'.
"Also up for the Peggy Carter part is fellow Brit Hayley Atwell, 28. I'm told both actresses are screen-testing for the second time for the coveted role tomorrow in London. I also hear that Keira Knightley is no longer in the running."
It was revealed last week that 'Devil Wears Prada' star Emily Blunt had been offered the role but turned it down, though it was not made clear why she had rejected the film.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Captain America's sidekick James 'Bucky' Barnes will be played by 'Gossip Girl' actor Sebastian Stan.
'The First Avenger: Captain America' is scheduled for release in July 2011.
