An exclusive fashion party
Kathmandu:
It was an exclusive and stunning show. The IEC Designer Contest definitely showcased true talent and creativity in the form of designs of some of the best upcoming designers of the nation. IEC can be vouched for as the premier institute of fashion designing and interior designing in Nepal and most of its students have come out with flying colours.
The contest was held in celebration of the seventh anniversary of the institute and showcased designs of 157 students. The show, held at Hyatt Regency and started at 5 pm, had a total of 13 sequences where these budding designers displayed innovative designs. The designers were free to use their imagination and came up with the most outstanding of ideas. The dresses were mostly made of fabric and waste materials.
Some of the most amazing dresses were made of newspaper, blades, sacks, milk packets, leaves, roses, polythene paper, titaura, tyre tubes, tape reels, red chillies, safety pins, peacock feathers, CDs, pre-paid cards, cigarette packs, coca cola advertisements and chocolate wrappers. The colour combinations were awesome and made each model stand out from the rest. The show was filled with loads of entertainment, too, and some of the students danced and sang manifesting the best of their capabilities. The eight judges, Rakesh Mohan, Shekhar Golchha, Srijana Thapa, Megha Chaudhary, Preeti Sitaula, Nabin Bhattarai, Jal Shah and Sushma Singh, surely had a wonderful time.
Since all good things come to an end, so did the show and it was time for the announcements of the winners. The top spot was bagged by Samita Adhikari. The first runner-up was Anubaba Raimajhi, the second Sanam Gurung and Rosy Gorkhali came fourth. Other awards announced were Mr IEC bagged by Thendup Sherpa, Ms IEC bagged by Madhupriya Dugar and Star of the Competition bagged by Kavita Gurung. The entire show was put together brilliantly. Kudos to IEC Nepal for a great party!
