Anderson starts campaign for PETA
VICTORIA: Pamela Anderson stars in a new ad campaign for PETA in which she appears next to the headline "Save the Seals" and urges the public to help end "Canada's annual seal slaughter."
A news release from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) says that the European Union and the U.S. have banned seal products, and world leaders — including Russia's Vladimir Putin and President Barack Obama — have spoken out against the annual massacre."
"This year, tens of thousands of harp seal pups — some as young as two weeks old — were beaten with clubs, shot, impaled with hooks, and even skinned alive for their fur as their mothers helplessly watched nearby."
With more than two million members and supporters, PETA is the largest animal rights organization in the world.
Anderson, who's from Ladysmith, B.C., is well known for her career in television and in movies.
